REEP (Residential Electricity Evaluation Pilot) Program

The RRRP program is designed to help customers gain a better understanding of how their electric dollars are spent, and provides information & recommendations on ways to save electric energy.

The advisor collects information, room by room, of lighting types & quantities,  and other electric loads (televisions, computer, radios, other electronics, small appliances, aquariums, tools, water pumps, pools & Jacuzzis,  etc.). Size, type & age of major appliances are catalogued to determine electric consumption.

A short interview is conducted to determine usage patterns.

A report is presented to the homeowner which will:

    • Identify and quantify household electricity use
    • Rank opportunities for reducing electrical consumption
    • Compares “test house” usage to “average Canadian house”
    • Evaluates 11 savings opportunities (6 upgrades & 5 behavioural changes).
    • Household  electricity usage will be segmented into 10 main categories, with further subdivision in “major appliances” & “lighting”.
    • Estimates standby power consumption for most plug loads.
    • Reconciles the overall audit results with the actual billed electricity consumption. Provides the homeowner with a list of actionable recommendations
